If you learn to love yourself you will be fine!
No one will ever like you unless you lose weight.
Stop being so selfish and just eat!
Don't worry about what others think. All that matters is what you think.
Those living with disordered eating and body image issues hear so many conflicting voices it is difficult to know what to believe. At times they may even wonder who they are. Their identity can feel lost in calories, numbers on the scale and habitual behaviors.
Additionally, as professionals trying to help these men and women, we may find ourselves experiencing much of the same confusion. How do we help them recover a sense of who they are from a Biblical perspective? Do we build self-esteem or rebuke dangerous behaviors and outright denial? Do we encourage them to love themselves or practice self-denial?
As a Christian professional or ministry leader, you need a Biblical foundation to navigate through these issues. “Hungry for Hope: Restoring Identity” is a conference designed to equip you in the areas of body image and disordered eating with a special focus on the role of identity in recovery. Held June 3-5, 2009, this two-day event will take place at historic Glen Eyrie, a Christian retreat center and home of Navigators in Colorado Springs.

Conference Location and Meals
All conference activities take place at Glen Eyrie, located in the foothills of Colorado Springs, only 10 minutes from
I-25 and just north of Garden of the Gods. Glen Eyrie is a beautiful, scenic location which provides an ideal setting for a conference away from the hustle and bustle. However, due to the higher altitude (over 6,000 feet) be aware of a need to drink more liquids and take care when exercising or hiking. Additionally, while all of Glen Eyrie's facilities are wheelchair accessible be aware that the location is rather hilly and over 100 years old. Depending on what room you reserve you may have to walk some hills to reach the main conference room. Please feel free to call Glen Eyrie at 1-877-488-8787 if you have specific concerns or to register over the phone.
Meals are included in the conference registration fee. These are served buffet-style in a large dining room. Over the course of the 6 provided meals you will experience a variety of menu items. If you have specific dietary needs, please let Glen Eyrie know ahead of time and they will do all they can to meet those needs.
Lodging and Transportation
Lodging is available, but not included in the registration fee. Rooms are located on the grounds of Glen Eyrie, one of the most beautiful locations in all of Colorado. The room rates and descriptions are as follows:
- Standard Rooms (hotel style) - $70 per night
- Deluxe Rooms - $95 per night
- Premier Castle Suite - $110 per night
Take a moment to view many of the rooms in Glen Eyrie's room photo gallery.
