As media critic Jean Kilbourne has pointed out, overcoming food temptation has replaced sexual chastity as the symbol of female virtue. Additionally, a recent study showed that those who are overweight may experience more discrimination than any other group in our society. In this presentation, Juliet will explore how food, weight and identity contribute to disordered eating in Western culture. (.75 CE)
