for Eating and Anxiety Disorders

Remuda Ranch was founded on the belief that complete and lasting recovery from an eating disorder is possible. After experiencing an eating disorder in his own family, Ward Keller began Remuda in 1990. When patients come to Remuda, they experience a clear sense of hope offered by our highly specialized team of professionals.

The first call to Remuda is often the most difficult. The admission process is then made easy by our specialists who advocate on the patient's behalf, coordinating with outpatient professionals, explaining the program to family members and working with insurance companies. This means from the very first phone call placed to Remuda, patients can focus fully on moving forward and regaining health.

Remuda Programs offer longer lengths of stay to ensure true and lasting change. All treatment is based on a bio-psycho-social-spiritual framework. This means we don't just treat a disorder, we treat the entire person: mind, body and spirit. Remuda is intentionally Christian; we are explicit in our faith but not exclusive, extending love, care and compassion to individuals of all beliefs.

Patients derive healing from Remuda's professional staff of primary care providers, psychiatric practitioners, psychologists, masters or doctoral-level therapists, nurses and registered dietitians. Healing is also found in Remuda's non-institutional facilities. We have treatment programs in multiple locations, each in a peaceful environment surrounded by the beauty of nature. All programs are state licensed and accredited by the Joint Commission.

Because psychiatric disorders don't just impact one individual, a key and critical component of Remuda treatment is family involvement. We help family members experience healing and understanding along with the patient.

At Remuda, we have one goal for all patients: recovery. So as they heal, we prepare. We prepare for success by holding relapse-prevention classes, so each patient can identify, and more importantly, avoid relapse. We also help our patients with aftercare coordination to ensure a team of professionals is in place to provide outpatient treatment after leaving Remuda.

Many programs exist to treat behavioral health issues. Then why choose Remuda? The answer is so simple. Because our treatment works. A full 95% of patients remain in successful recovery after leaving Remuda; that number holds true for one, five and ten years. What does "successful recovery" mean? In a word: life. It means that today, thousands upon thousands of individuals are no longer controlled by an eating disorder. They are living life ... going to school, working, marrying, having children of their own. They are doing this without an eating disorder, and often, without other psychiatric issues such as depression, substance use or anxiety. The Remuda Model of Treatment is comprehensive so that healing becomes possible on nearly all levels.

No one can guarantee treatment success. But by the same token, no one can get closer to that ideal than Remuda Ranch. Patients come to us in need of hope; they experience healing; then go on to live the life God intended for them.
