Company Overview

The Remuda Ranch Programs in Wickenburg, Arizona are lovely ranch settings that offer several programs of which we have a legacy of success now after a history of 19 years dedicated to helping women recover from eating disorders in an environment that is Christ-centered and biblically-based in its delivery of scientifically valid approaches to recovery. We are a growing company that has in these most recent years added distinct programs for boys with eating disorders and now also an anxiety disorder program for women.

Position Summary:

Provide direct patient care in a supportive and empathetic manner to ensure a safe, Christian-growth oriented environment by employing biblically-based, Christ-centered principles and concepts to the treatment process. Instruct equitation skills, facilitate recreational activities and equine experientials, assist with challenge course activity, monitor safety and work effectively with patients who exhibit a wide variety of functioning levels. Complete Activities Services Assessments and daily patient documentation requirements.

Education/Experience:

1. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
2. A minimum of 4 years equestrian experience with proven competency in intermediate equitation skills, horse care, training skills and stable management
3. Previous experience facilitating group recreation activities preferred.
4. Eligible to obtain and maintain a current Arizona driver's license.
5. Obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid and Therapeutic Safety Continuum (TSC) Certification.

Skills:

  • Ability to integrate Christian principles into all aspects of treatment and direct patient care interactions and activities.
  • Ability to effectively promote Christian growth and assist patients and families in their understanding of biblically-based foundations to recovery.
  • Ability to model a biblically-based Christ-centered lifestyle providing an example to patients, families, staff, public and professionals.
  • Demonstrates ability to apply biblically-based, Christ centered principles and approaches to problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrates effective judgment in patient care and safety issues.
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively with patients and staff.
  • Ability to facilitate and/or assist in group and individual activity related program components including but not limited to recreation, equine, challenge course, cardio/leisure walks, and action passes.
  • Demonstrates ability to update records and completes daily patient documentation requirements.
  • Ability to manage horse care, shoeing schedule and feed supply.
  • Demonstrates ability and knowledge of equitation skills and horse training procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate stable vehicles.

Environment:

You will provide care within a peaceful ranch-like residential setting that feels more like a resort allowing you to wear nice casual clothes while engaging them in our many specialized therapies such as our state-of-the-art equine therapy, experiential body image interventions, clinical art therapy and challenger course within a Christian environment.

Shift:

Part-time [.6 PT] (Varied schedule throughout week)

Training:

You receive excellent training concentration in your first 3 weeks and ongoing continued education over a year that provides you with a demonstrated understanding of the eating disorder population within a dual-diagnosis focus including such co-morbid disorders as depression, anxiety, as well as substance abuse.

Wickenburg is about a half hour from the Phoenix Metro outer limits, nestled in the high Sonoran desert and little western town.
