A New CD for Young Women Struggling with an Eating Disorder
MUSIC FOR THE SOUL RELEASES NEW TELL ME WHAT YOU SEE CD TO PROVIDE HOPE AND HEALING TO YOUNG WOMEN STRUGGLING WITH AN EATING DISORDER
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Music for the Soul’s newest release "Tell Me What You See", a song and spoken word CD for young women overcoming eating disorders, is receiving strong response from experts in the field. Co-sponsored by Remuda Ranch, a Christian treatment center in Wickenburg, Arizona the CD includes eleven new songs, many written and sung by young women who have recovered from Anorexia, Bulimia, or eating disorders not otherwise specified (EDNOS). It also includes eleven spoken word pieces that range from interviews with recovered disordered eaters to poetry and written performance pieces.
Christian therapist Dr. Linda Mintle, author of Making Peace with Your Thighs says Tell Me What You See is “a moving, excellent production. It will be a great source of hope and inspiration to young women.” Constance Rhodes, President of Finding Balance and author of Life Inside the Thin Cage says, “This record takes risks; big ones - which is why I believe it will play such a big role in helping change the lives of those who listen.”
Over twenty young Christian women, all who have recovered from disordered eating, took part in the creation of Tell Me What You See, some as singers, some as songwriters, other offering personal testimony, and still others serving in an advisory capacity. In addition to Remuda Ranch several other Christian eating disorder recovery groups offered input including The Center in Edmonds, Washington, Ophelia’s Place in Liverpool, New York, and Mercy Ministries of America in Nashville, Tennessee. Music for the Soul is pledging ten percent of the revenue from sales of the CD to eating disorder treatment programs.
A not-for-profit organization, Music for the Soul’s mission is to help people in deep pain find hope through the healing power of songs and spoken words that resonate with human experience and reflect the redemptive love of Jesus. “We want hurting people to know that they are not alone; that someone understands what they are going through - that God understands,” says Steve Siler, the organization’s founder and director and a Dove Award winning writer of over forty top ten Christian singles including “Circle of Friends,’ “I Will Follow Christ,” and “Not too Far from Here.”
Music for the Soul has received endorsements for their work from several major organizations including Family Life, Focus on the Family, The American Association of Christian Counselors, Moody Radio Network, and Lifeway Christian Resources. Melinda Doolittle, Larnelle Harris, Lisa Bevill, Clay Crosse, and Scott Krippayne are among those who appear on the award-winning ministries recordings.
Tell Me What You See is the organizations 9th release. Pornography (Somebody’s Daughter), marriage (Fifty Years form Now), and breast cancer (More Beautiful) are some of the issues the ministry has tackled previously.
